Terms of Service

KidQuest • Effective Date: January 30, 2026

Welcome to KidQuest! These Terms of Service ("Terms") cover your use of the website kidquest.app and the KidQuest software service (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & Accounts

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to create an "Admin" account. The Service is intended for use by families, but the primary account holder must be a parent or legal guardian.
  • Family Responsibility: As the Admin, you are responsible for managing the profiles of your family members ("Heroes") and ensuring that any minors using the app under your supervision comply with these Terms.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

2. Use of the Service

KidQuest provides a gamified chore and habit tracking dashboard for families. You agree to use the Service only for its intended personal, non-commercial purpose.

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or to violate any laws.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, or compromise the security of the Service.
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users.
  • Automate interactions with the Service in a way that places an undue burden on our infrastructure.

3. User Content

You retain ownership of the data you enter into the Service (e.g., Quest titles, Rewards, Completion logs).

By entering this data, you grant KidQuest a license to host, store, and display this content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and your family. We do not sell your content to third parties.

4. Third-Party Integrations (Home Assistant)

KidQuest offers optional integrations with third-party software, such as Home Assistant via Webhooks.

  • Use at Your Own Risk: You are solely responsible for the configuration and security of your external systems. KidQuest is not responsible for any issues, malfunctions, or security breaches that occur on your personal Home Assistant server resulting from the use of our webhooks.
  • Availability: We do not guarantee that third-party integrations will remain functional indefinitely, as they rely on external software standards outside our control.

5. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms.

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can request the deletion of your account and data via the Settings menu or by contacting support.

6. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

"As Is" Service: The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

Security Features: You acknowledge that security features provided by the Service, such as the 'Admin PIN' or 'Kid Mode', are convenience features designed to prevent accidental changes by children. They are not encryption tools and should not be relied upon to secure sensitive data or prevent determined unauthorized access.

Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, KidQuest shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

7. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you within the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
