Terms of Service

KidQuest • Effective Date: March 17, 2026

Welcome to KidQuest, operated by Sidecar LLC. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website kidquest.app and the KidQuest mobile applications (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & Accounts

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to create a KidQuest account. The Service is designed for use by families, but the primary account holder ("Admin") must be a parent or legal guardian. Children do not create their own accounts — they are added to the family account by the Admin.
  • Family Responsibility: As the Admin, you are responsible for managing the profiles of your family members ("Heroes"), supervising children's use of the Service, and ensuring all use complies with these Terms. You represent that you have the legal authority to agree to these Terms on behalf of your household.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree to notify us immediately at support@kidquest.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  • Accurate Information: You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.

2. Use of the Service

KidQuest provides a gamified chore and habit-tracking platform for families. You agree to use the Service only for its intended personal, non-commercial, family use.

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, hack, or circumvent the security of the Service.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Automate interactions with the Service in a way that places an unreasonable burden on our systems.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Use the Service to store or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, or violates the rights of others.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or other users' accounts.

3. Children & Parental Responsibility

KidQuest is a family app. Children use the Service only through a parent-managed household account and under the direct supervision of their parent or guardian. As the account Admin, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • You are solely responsible for supervising your child's use of the Service and determining whether the Service is appropriate for their age and maturity.
  • You will not permit a child to create their own KidQuest account. All accounts must be created by an adult.
  • You have reviewed our Privacy Policy, including the section regarding child profiles, and consent to the collection and use of child profile data as described there.
  • The "Admin PIN" and "Kid Mode" features are convenience tools designed to reduce accidental changes by children. They are not encryption or security systems and should not be relied upon to prevent determined access by any person.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

Free & Pro Tiers

KidQuest offers a free tier with core features and a paid "KidQuest Pro" subscription with additional features. The features available on each tier are described in the app and on our website, and are subject to change with notice.

Web Subscriptions (Stripe)

  • Subscriptions purchased via the website are processed by Stripe. You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) until you cancel.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time via the Settings menu in the app or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.

Mobile In-App Purchases (Apple & Google)

  • Subscriptions and purchases made through the iOS app are subject to Apple's terms and conditions. Billing is managed by Apple through your App Store account. To cancel, manage your subscription in your Apple ID account settings.
  • Subscriptions and purchases made through the Android app are subject to Google's terms and conditions. Billing is managed by Google through your Google Play account. To cancel, manage your subscription in the Google Play app.
  • We do not process or have access to payment information for in-app purchases made through Apple or Google. All refund requests for in-app purchases must be directed to Apple or Google respectively.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any price changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of all content you enter into the Service, including quest titles, reward names, and completion data ("User Content").

By submitting User Content, you grant Sidecar LLC a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you and your family. We do not sell, license, or share your User Content with third parties for any other purpose.

You represent that your User Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.

6. Third-Party Integrations

KidQuest offers optional integrations with third-party software such as Home Assistant via Webhooks.

  • Use at Your Own Risk: You are solely responsible for the configuration, security, and maintenance of any external systems you connect to KidQuest. Sidecar LLC is not responsible for any issues, data loss, or security breaches occurring on your external systems as a result of using our integrations.
  • Availability: We do not guarantee that third-party integrations will remain available indefinitely. We may modify or discontinue integrations with reasonable notice.

7. Intellectual Property

The KidQuest name, logo, application design, graphics, and all related content (excluding your User Content) are the intellectual property of Sidecar LLC and are protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended personal, family purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its underlying code.

8. Termination

By You: You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by navigating in the app from the main Dashboard to the Admin Dashboard, then to Account & Billing, by visiting kidquest.app/account, or by contacting support. Deletion permanently removes your access to the Service and, subject to our Privacy Policy, removes associated family data from our active systems.

By Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or pose a risk to the Service or other users. Where practicable, we will notify you and provide an opportunity to address the issue before termination.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, disclaimers, payment obligations incurred before termination, and governing law) will remain in effect.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

"As Is" Service: The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Sidecar LLC and its officers, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or service interruption — arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) $100 USD.

Indemnification: You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sidecar LLC from any claims, losses, or damages (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or limits any consumer rights or remedies that cannot be excluded, restricted, or limited under applicable law.

10. Dispute Resolution

We hope to resolve any disputes informally. If you have a concern, please contact us first at support@kidquest.app and we will make a good-faith effort to resolve it.

Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Venue: Any legal action or proceeding relating to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Clark County, Washington, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

Apple & Google Platform Terms: If you downloaded the iOS version of the app from the Apple App Store, your use of that version may also be subject to Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, unless a different license agreement is provided in App Store Connect. If you downloaded the Android version from Google Play, your use of that version may also be subject to Google Play's applicable terms and policies. In the event of a direct conflict relating solely to platform distribution or billing, the applicable platform terms will control to that limited extent.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Effective Date" above and by sending an email or displaying an in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
